Research suggests that transporting horses in a backward-facing position, opposite to the direction of travel, can result in reduced stress. This method offers several potential advantages compared to the traditional forward-facing travel. Firstly, loading the horse becomes easier as it can be backed into the trailer without facing a dark entrance. Additionally, during braking and deceleration, the horse's sturdy hindquarters are positioned towards the potential impact area instead of its more vulnerable head and chest. Furthermore, the horse is not required to hold its head in an unnatural high position and can achieve better balance by leaning over its forequarters, as it no longer fears sudden braking-related injuries. It has also been suggested that horses transported facing backwards are better equipped to handle the changing forces caused by acceleration and deceleration. This is because their forelegs are more adapted to swaying, which is a normal grazing behavior, and their shoulders provide better support against lateral forces compared to their haunches. Placing the forelegs to the rear of the axle, as is the case when horses are transported facing backwards, further enhances their ability to withstand lateral accelerations.

A simple answer is yes, we design our trucks with equine comfort in mind, horses of all sizes. If however you feel that there is an individual need for a larger truck in terms of height or length then this is something we can assist with during the build process. We can build on new or second hand chassis. The new vehicles do come with a warranty and service plans but this is often not the case with second hand trucks.
